My new local hang-out?

Stopped in with the better half for dinner and a beverage one night recently. Wasn't too busy, but there was a good mix of young and old there, which I like. The cute young Sarah Palin look-a-like waitress was great, went and checked out a certain beer for us when she couldn't answer our questions about it, and was the right degree of attentive throughout the night.

We shared the Yorkshire Steak Bites that were quite tasty, although seemed to have been nuked to reheat them, they were still very good. My partner had the Bangers and Mash which they really enjoyed, and I had a special 6oz. Steak Sandwich that was fabulous, and came with fries for less than $10. Wow.

Glasses of wine were a little too pricey for a pub in my opinion (over $8 plus tax for a fairly cheap selection).

As for ambience, well, it's a pub but was clean enough although a little dark. Being new to the area, I'll definately go back.

The pub can get a little crowded during peak hours and seating gets limited. The overall ambience is that of your typical Irish style pub. Lots of knick knacks all over and comfortable feeling.

They have a good variety of liquor and beer options (I never took at look at their wine list) and the draft I had was fresh and tasty.

I have tried their poutine and it was fairly good. I have also had their Guiness steak pie and its excellent! great crust and definitely has that sharp Guiness flavour to it. As I haven't found any other restaurants near by that serve a decent meat pie I will continue visiting St. James' Well for this item!

Overall I have a good time each visit and would recommend it to anyone looking for a lunch / dinner and drinks.
