Sharky Modak - 09/12 & 09/13 Minimize
SharkyPromo.jpgSharky's name is synonymous with the Vancouver music scene. He has been in the music business for twenty years playing with various bands and working as a promoter. He started playing piano at age 7 and later experimented with the trumpet. The trumpet experiment went really bad; Unfortunately the lawsuit settlement states that I can't tell you exactly what occurred on that hot august afternoon with me and my trumpet, let's just say they tell me it wasn't a pretty sight. Sharky was quoted as saying: my instrument of choice is now the guitar which he also picked up in grade 12. Over the years this multi-talented performer has performed with dozens of top Vancouver musicians and continues to delight audiences wherever he goes, from his improvised humor to his vocal ability and stage presence. As a solo artist he acquired the art of playing the same song in a dozen different styles while transcribing another tune and eating chicken wings all simultaneously. Today Sharky has an amazing collection of really tacky shirts and if he looks familiar it's because on nights when he's not playing live [which is rare], you may find him talking to everyone [including himself] or up on stage jamming at any bar in the Lower Mainland.

GORD OLIVER - 09/26 & 09/27 Minimize

gordoliver.jpg

Gord Oliver is one Vancouver-based Singer/Guitarist who subscribes to the old show-biz adage, "Give the people what they want!" And that's exactly what he does... his repertoire starts with favorites from Elvis and other 50's legends, through the 60's with the most popular tunes from the Beatles, CCR, and more, right up to Top 40 hits by artists like Springsteen, the Eagles, Tom Petty and R.E.M. Add to that his easy-going stage persona, and you have an entertainer who knows how to make it all happen!

Rhythm Street - 12/19 & 12/20 Minimize

rhythmstreet.jpgRhythm Street are a Vancouver based rockin' blues band. The trio's members are Jeff Johnston (bass & vocals), Pat Axe (guitar & vocals) and Ricky McDonald (drums & vocals).

Jeff was born and began playing music in St. Mary's, Ontario, before coming out west in 1970. He performed with "A Day In Our Lives". The nickname "Spaceman" came about. Then he went to Quebec in 1973 and performed and recorded with "Dominique Tremblay" and also sat in with "John Lee Hooker". Back in British Columbia in 1978, Jeff played with "The Muddy Fraser Band", "MTL" and other local bands. His rockin' bass style and energy have dubbed him "Rockin Jeff Johnston".

Pat was born in Toronto, Ontario. He played around Toronto and Southern Ontario for 15 years before moving to Vancouver, BC, in 1973. He has performed locally at all major clubs with different bands.

Ricky was born in Windsor, Ontario and has earned the nickname "Rimshot Machine Gun" for his hard driven rock & blues back beat drumming. He has been in Vancouver, BC, since 1977 and has performed with many local bands such as "Grand Slam Blues Band".
